Olderfleet Primary School, Larne, Co. Antrim

1991 – 1992

We started school on Sept. 2nd. There are no changes in teaching staff, but Mrs Arlene Thompson is our new P1 Classroom Assistant.

Students in School – Miss Kelly and Mr McConnell have been in school.

25 Sept Mr McConnell took P5 to see his murals at the Terminal Building. Later the class tried to create its own. P5 was down to look at the murals in the Terminal Building when they heard about the bicycles. We appeared on the UTV news programme at 6 o’clock!

What’s Happening in School in September :

P1 – Structured Play

P2 – Planted bulbs. We hope they will bloom for Christmas

P3 – working on their news items

P6 are making pirate head plaques

8 October Mrs Kirby and Jennifer Liddle went to the launch of the Milk Mini Hockey Championships at the House of Sport.

October 22nd

Captain Benson from the Salvation Army came to Harvest Assembly. We presented hampers of food for distribution to older people in the Larne area.

October 31st

Annual Sponsored Walk in Ballyboley in aid of the Haemotology at R.V.H. Belfast. Conan McIlwrath walked with us. Over £1700 was collected. St. Mary’s joined us.

William Stewart won a prize in the EDCO Mask Competition.

Commentary for the school video was done at the B.B.C.

P6 & P7 Entertainment at Christmas Tree, Broadway 10.30 -11.30am

P1 – 5 entertained Fold residents.

Catriona Seymour found the only milk star in P1.

Everybody had to help Mr Burns bake his Christmas Cake in Assembly.

Parties all day! Disco at night – punk theme

Wednesday December 18th

Melvyn Tix and the Strings of the Ulster Orchestra in school.

Thursday December 19th

Carol Service at 1.15pm. Video – “We are the Pupils” at night – showing at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm & 9pm!

Our neighbours are demolished. The Harbour Garage is all changed.

The whole school  went to see “Sleeping Beauty” at the Arts Theatre.

Mervyn Farrell spent all day in school with his Science Roadshow

USPCA Inspector talked to the whole school.

Prof. Bobby Moss came to school to talk about the Emigrants of 275 years ago.

P7 took part in the Saturday parade.
