Staff and pupils all came back safely on September 1st.
Football
We joined a new 7-a-side league. Our panel of Gareth Alexander (Capt), David Cooke, James McIlroy, Aaron Campbell, Adrian Allen, Graham Barr, Graham Warwick, Christopher McNeill and Brian Campbell started off the season well. We might even win a cup!!

Mr Clement came in to see us.
September 17
Fire Drill. The Fire Officer is coming to inspect our school on September 24th.
September 19
P7 went to Larne Library. We are going back on October 6 to hear Robert Swindell, a children’s author.
Football Team Triumphs!
Our 7-a-side team won all 6 matches and took the Moore Cup. The cup and medals were presented by Mrs Gore at assembly on October 2nd.
October 6
P7 enjoyed hearing Robert Swindells at Larne Library. Helen Colman won a book token for her painting of ‘Supergran.’
October 9
Orangefield Girls’ Orchestra came to entertain P 4 – 7 Miss Williams was their conductor.
October 14
Electricity Strike. We had to go to Dunnes Stores to buy a ‘picnic’ for the Dinner people.

October 25
Mr Burns and Mrs Gore took a party of P7 and P6 pupils to the Opera House to see Jesus Christ Superstar.
October 29
P6 and P7 took part in the Annual Walk to aid R.N.L.I. The day was cold but just a little damp. We raised a total of £900!
November 24 (Monday)
Workmen moved in to repair our wooden classrooms. P4 and P5 were back to normal on 7/1/87!
November 26 (Wednesday)
The contractors arrived today to resurface the playground.
November 29 (Saturday)
P6 & P7 went to Carrick Marina to see over the ‘City of Belfast’.
Orangefield photos : P 4, 5, 6, 7 enjoy the music made by Miss Williams and her Orangefield girls.
The Carol Service collection was for NHSSB and the Northern Ireland Council for Orthopeadic Development.
January 27 (Tuesday)
Five a side football competition. We beat Ballyclare but were beaten by Moyle and St. Joseph’s.

January 29 (Thursday)
P7 went to a concert by the Ulster Orchestra in Larne Grammar School.
March 10 (Tuesday)
We hosted a heat of the R.U.C. inter-schools quiz. Stephen Baxter, Mary Murray and Ruth McAuley made up our panel.

P3 collected over 200 t shirts for the Oxfam appeal. Mr Ian Brown came to collect them.
Death of Mrs Haveron
Mrs Haveron died on March 9 after a long illness. This tribute to her was published in the Larne Times.
School closed at mid-day on the day of Mrs Haveron’s funeral. Four boys and four girls from P7 accompanied the staff to the service in her home and to the graveside.
Pupils contributed towards a donation to the N.I. Hospice. Sister McKee came to the school to receive a cheque for £540.
The Board of Governors presented a new trophy in Mrs Haveron’s name.

The London Trip
44 pupils were accompanied by Mrs Craig, Mrs Andrews, Mrs Gore, Mrs McAuley and Mr Burns.
May 1987
P 4, 5, 6, 7 raised £200 for computer equipment by a 10p a job scheme.

The photographer came to school.

P3 went to visit David Brennan’s farm.
Sports Day
The original day chosen was wet, so we postponed Sports Day to June 12. It was bright and sunny at Sandy Bay but very cold. Mrs Warwick and Mrs Thompson gave out the prizes.

P7 organised a reception for their parents. It was a great success!!

Civic Week Swimming Gala
Again Olderfleet won the shield, sharing with Moyle P.S. The swimmers : Helen Colman, Heather Barr, Brian Campbell, Timotnhy Butler, Gareth Alexander, Simon Moody.
June 24 (Wednesday)
Mr McAdoo came to school. He presented the new Board of Governors Trophy, in memory of Mrs Hveron, to Stacey Casagrande, to mark her exceptional courage and cheerfulness over a period of 2 years of being in and out of Musgrave Park Hospital.
June 25 (Thursday)
We had a visit from Belfast Actors; Co-op who performed their play in our hall. Everyone enjoyed it.
